Opatch 5716143 and problems!! ( 10gr2, windows2003 server)
Hi. all
I have applied the patch set of "p4547817_10202_WINNT" to a database
10.2.0.1.0. Now, the database is the version of 10.2.0.2.0 and is running.
I tried to apply the patch of 5716143 to the database of 10.2.0.2.0.
According to the readme file,
1. I stopped all oracle-related services.
2. run "opatch apply"
It seems that there is no problem, but
I got the problem (fail to copy "oci.dll" because it is used now).
But, I stopped all oracle-related services.
Is there anyone who has an experience of applying the patch 5716143
on windows ??

Hi,
it's a problem with windows memory.
There should be a process still using that dll.
You can try to use a tool to kill it or simply restart windows..
To be sure, try by rename bin folder under oracle home and then restart.

You can try to use procexpnt to find what process use dll.

Now, I have done it by renaming the oracle folder and rebooting the server.
"Opatch apply " gave me "OPatch succeeded.".

Ok, but apparently a reboot is still necessary, I was just wondering if anyone figured out a way to kill the oci.dll without rebooting the server.

i use a tool named procexp to search the dll and kill the process who blocks it.
You should find it under sysinternal or microsoft.. i can't remeber precisely.. :)
